Skin Imaging Devices

One of the principle activities of The Skin Appearance Laboratory is the development of new diagnostic devices and methods and the improvement of existing ones. A range of specialty lenses, filters and capture devices are available to be used in investigations in the lab:

CMOS and CCD digital still and video cameras

Digital dermatoscopes

Histological microscopy

Nomarski microscopy

Minolta Vivid 900 Non-contact digitizer

Navitar 12X high magnification zoom lens

Photogrammetry

Quartz UV lens

For future work, in addition to those requirements described on the Facilities page that were associated mainly with the definition of the Diagnostic Imaging Chain Model, there are as yet unmet analytical needs specific to the characterization of image devices such as integrating spheres, hyperspectral filter wheels, UV and IR capture sensors, and a range of optical and positioning systems.
