Lenna Backstory
The best resource on the Web for the history of the Lenna Image is www.lenna.org. The site covers the history of the creation of the digital Lenna image and its subsequent use as an image quality test icon. Links are provided to the original 512x512 pixel digital image. An image search for Lena/Lenna will return links to many technical applications such as those presented above that will demonstrate its widespread application. A search of the Web for Lenna articles will also turn up a long list of controversies in the scientific literature related to the use of this image.
